Overview

Kate Hemphill is a private jeweler and aesthetic consultant based out of New York City with a combined 13 years of experience in the jewelry industry. Her expertise ranges from retail to wholesale to antique acquisitions and contemporary design, celebrity styling, and collection evaluations. At KVH, the goal is to help each client define his or her style through jewelry.

Client Requirements

Our client is a leading fashion designer in New York City with a combined 13 years of experience in the jewelry industry and this website was going to digitize her online presence.

They aimed to build a website using technologies that should be fast, easy to maintain, and follow the latest web application standard UI & UX.

Discovery

While evaluating the client’s requirements, we came to know about the possible user base of our clients. They were mostly fashion designers and people who are interested in jewelry. As fashion designer’s main niche is designing, designing the website in a way that should attract the attention of our users was going to be a challenge.

Strategy

During the strategy phase, we interviewed the key team members of our client's team. One goal was to increase engagement and the length of time visitors spent on the website. We made some key points for how it can be achieved. Another goal was to give people a reason to come back to the site, increasing the number of returning visitors. A third goal was to make it easy for visitors to find the right product for themselves. Our team agreed to the point that making the UI as elegant as possible is the answer for this point.

Understanding the requirements during our discovery process drove us into the very important decisions that were made during UI Designs, Technology selections, and Architecture. Our whole team agreed on using WordPress as the base technology for this particular project as WordPress is the most common use technology in the world right now.

Build

We jumped into creating the main layout of the website with the close coordination of our client team, which leads to the initial project setup. The best possible theme was selected by our design team and we got it approved by our client. We used the latest version of PHP 7 and WordPress. For backend operations, our backend engineers chose MySQL as the database.

While building the website the core focus was to set it up in a way that should follow all the standards of modern websites.

The project timeline was set up and scattered into weeks. We made sure that we QA the website along the way and don’t leave anything for later.

Delivery

Once all of the content was successfully added to the site, we were able to start testing everything. With a fully functional, responsive, and interactive site, we needed to extensively test each page to verify the correct functionality of the entire site. We ensured that everything was working as intended. Our designing team ensured that the website was fully responsive and looking pixel perfect on all devices. Once the client was happy and satisfied, we uploaded the website to the live server.
